Dur Hot Spring Tour and Trek

Day 1. Arrive Paro.

Day 2. Sightseeing in Paro.

Day 3. Paro to Thimphu.

Day 4. Thimphu to Bumthang.

Day 5. Sightseeing in Bumthang.

Day 6. TREK DAY 1. Bumthang to Gorsum. After breakfast we drive to the starting point of the trek below Kurjey Lhakhang.  From Bumthang to Gorsum it is a gradual climb following the Chamkhar Chu, a river known for its wild trout.  (Altitude 3120 m, 18 km, 6 to 7 hours)

Day 7. TREK DAY 2. Gorsum to Lungsum. Today’s trail leads through dense forest of spruce, hemlock, cypress, juniper and maple, with a gradual ascent to the campsite (3160 m).  (12 km, 5 hours)
Day 8. TREK DAY 3. Lungsum to Tsochenchen. The vegetation is similar to the previous day, thinning out as we approach the campsite which is situated above the tree line (3100 m).  (15 km)
Day 9. TREK DAY 4. Tsochenchen to Dur Tsachu. From Tsochenchen we climb to the Juli La Pass (4700m), from which there is a good view of the surrounding mountains on a clear day.  We descend 1300 metres to reach our campsite.  Musk deer, herds of blue sheep and Himalayan bears can sometimes be seen along the route.  (17 km, 7 hours)

Day 10. TREK DAY 5.  Rest day at Dur Tsachu (Hot Spring). After a late breakfast relax in the hot spring or explore the environs at your leisure.

Day 11. TREK DAY 6. Dur Tsachu to Tsochenchen. Return to Tsochenchen taking the same route via the Juli La Pass.
Day 12. TREK DAY 7. Tsochenchen to Gorsum. We make an early start to cover today’s leg of the journey, which is a gradual descent.  (27 km, 9 hours)
Day 13. TREK DAY 8. Gorsum to Bumthang. From Gorsum the trail descends gently to the bridge near Dur village, where a vehicle will be waiting to take us to Bumthang.
Day 14. Bumthang to Wangdi.
Day 15. Wangdi to Thimphu.
Day 16. Sightseeing in Thimphu.
Day 17. Thimphu to Paro and depart.
